Export a File

If you want to export a file instead of saving it, you can open the Export Dialog. The export dialog is a dockable dialog that can be opened by one of the standard methods.

In the dialog there are options to export as a single file, and a separate Batch Export tab for exporting multiple areas at once. You can see all features offered by the Export dialog in the Export Dialog chapter.

In this chapter we will focus on getting the Page exported.

To export a page:

  1. Open the Export dialog with one of the following:

    • Select File ‣ Export....

    • Click on the Export icon in the commands bar.

    • Select Export in the Dockable Dialogs Add Dialog popup.

    • Press CtrlCmdShiftE.

  2. Make sure you are in the Single File tab.

  3. Click on the Page button among the export area choices.

  4. Choose an export format from the dropdown.

  5. Click on the Choose... button to choose an export location.

  6. Click on the large Export button.

Now you can open the chosen folder and check if your artwork is successfully exported.

Most formats have adjustable parameters. You can set them by clicking on the settings icon to the right of the format dropdown.

Export a selection

Select what you want to export beforehand with the Selector Tool, and switch to the Selection option in step 3.

Export the whole document

Switch to the Document option in step 3. The resulting image dimensions would be defined by the bounding box of all visible on-canvas objects.
