Document Management¶
When you open the main Inkscape window, Inkscape presents you with a document. A document is a saved or unsaved file opened in Inkscape. You can do one of the following:
Start drawing or designing directly. Details can be adjusted later.
Modify the dimensions, add pages, or set up the margin and bleed.
Import images or other documents as references or reusable components.
Open another document or create a new one with a different template, and close this one.
After you have made changes to the document, you may want to save the document, or export it into different formats. Before saving, you may also want to review the document resources you used, and clean up those unused.
If something went wrong while drawing or editing, you can enable Autosave to make Inkscape save your document at set intervals. If Inkscape crashes, it also saves emergency saves of the documents opened.
In this section, we will also introduce how to set up, manage and create documents from templates.
