Export Files¶
Todo
Test saving in all file formats!
Inkscape can save and export to a host of formats, but by default, files are saved to the Inkscape SVG format. This format keeps the most information Inkscape can make use of, and being SVG, it can also be used directly in browsers.
You can save files to other vector formats as well. If you want to open your file in another program, you have to save it in a format supported by that application. For Illustrator and CorelDRAW, that would be .pdf or .eps; for LibreOffice Draw, you can save to .odg; for other programs, you can save to other available formats.
You can also export your files to make it available for an even larger variety of programs. In the Export tab, raster formats such as .png, .jpg and .tiff are available.
Tip
You can also save a document as a Template, which allows you to create new documents with the same properties. For more information, see Templates.
Inkscape makes it easy to tell whether a file is saved or not. If a file has changes that are not saved, an asterisk (*) appears before the filename in the titlebar and the tab label.
