Icon

Name of the Button and What it Does

Selection Tool: selects objects

Node Tool: selects and edits nodes and paths

Shape Builder Tool: overlapping two objects creates a new (third) object

Rectangle Tool: creates and edits squares or rectangle shapes

Ellipse Tool: creates and edits circles or ellipse shapes

Star Tool: creates and edits stars or polygon shapes

3D Box Tool: creates and edits 3D box shapes

Spiral Tool: creates and edits spiral shapes

Pen Tool: draws paths, including Bezier curves

Pencil Tool: draws freehand paths

Calligraphy Tool: draws calligraphy lines

Text Tool: creates and edits text

Gradient Tool: creates and edits gradients

Gradient Mesh Tool: creates and edits gradient meshes

Dropper Tool: selects a color and applies it to another shape

Paint Bucket Tool: fills enclosed shapes

Tweak Tool: moves or colors objects relative to other objects

Spray Tool: sprays copies or clones of objects

Eraser Tool: erases objects, color, or paths

Connector Tool: creates flowcharts or connected boxes

LPE Tool: draws LPEs or Live Path Effects

Measurement Tool: measures objects and paths

Zoom Tool: zooms the canvas

Pages Tool: creates and edits pages

It is possible to hide the toolbox, should there become a need to. Uncheck View ‣ Show/Hide ‣ Toolbox. To make it visible again, just replace the checkmark.
